CIVL Student Team Wins Second Runner-Up in Model Building Competition 2024

A CIVL student team named “Master Builders” – comprising Year-3 undergraduate students HUANG Bai Rong, LAM Hau Yee, LAM Siu Lok, NG King Ting, PENG Yong Yi and Hayden YEUNG, has won the second runner-up in the Model Building Competition 2024 (held on 23 March 2024) organized by the Institution of Civil Engineers, Hong Kong Association, Graduate and Student Division (ICE HKA G&S).

The Model Building Competition was a team-based competition that challenges civil engineering undergraduates to put their knowledge into practice by designing and building structural models. This year's theme was 'Structural design of bridge against wind load,' and participants were required to build a model with balsa wood within a limited time. The models were then tested by fixing them in the wind tunnel machine.

Our students showcased their creativity, problem-solving skills, and workmanship during the competition, impressing the judges with their innovative designs. The competition was divided into three parts: model building, testing, and presentation. The students worked within the allocated time and followed the rules and conditions of the competition, resulting in a well-built and structurally sound model.

Congratulations to the winning team for their outstanding achievement!
